Accessibility
Effective 21 October 2026
Workshelve should work for everyone, whatever device or assistive technology you use. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA across the site.
What the Site Supports
- Every page has a "Skip to content" link as the first item you reach with the Tab key.
- Tool controls are standard buttons, inputs and selects, so they work with a keyboard and are announced by screen readers.
- Form fields have labels, and results, errors and "copied" messages are announced as they appear.
- File uploads work with a button as well as by drag and drop.
- A light and a dark theme, switchable from the top of each page.
- If your device is set to reduce motion, the site's animations and transitions are turned off.
Known Issues
These are the gaps we know about and are working on:
- Accent text in the light theme. Some small cyan labels and links fall below the 4.5:1 contrast ratio WCAG asks for. The dark theme meets it. Switching to the dark theme is the workaround for now.
- Edit PDF. Placing new text, drawings and shapes on a page needs a mouse, pen or touch. Once an item is placed, you can select it and move it with the arrow keys.
- PDF page previews. Page thumbnails in the PDF tools are pictures of each page, so a screen reader announces only the page number, not the page's text. The files the tools produce keep their text.
Report a Problem
If something on the site doesn't work for you, please email TODO-contact@workshelve.com. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and the browser and assistive technology you use, if any. We read every report and will reply.
How This Was Checked
The site was reviewed against WCAG 2.2 AA by checking the code of every live page and tool for labels, keyboard access, focus handling, status announcements, headings and colour contrast. Reports from people using the site are the best way to find what that misses.
