Privacy Policy

Workshelve (workshelve.com) is a set of free browser tools run from New Zealand. This policy explains what personal information the site handles and what your rights are under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
The Short Version
- Files and text you put into a tool are processed in your browser. They are not uploaded to us.
- There are no accounts, no cookies, no analytics and no advertising.
- Your light/dark theme choice is saved in your own browser so it sticks between visits.
- Like every website, the pages are delivered by a hosting provider, and some pages load fonts and images from other services. Those services see your IP address when they deliver their files. They are listed below.
Files and Text You Use in the Tools
When you open a PDF, paste JSON, hash a file or convert an image, the work happens in JavaScript on your own device. The file or text is never sent to a Workshelve server, and we have no way to see it. Closing or refreshing the tab clears it.
If a tool ever needs to send data off your device to work, the tool page will say so clearly before you use it, and this policy will be updated.
What Is Stored on Your Device
The site does not set cookies. It does save two small preferences in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device and are never sent to us.

You can delete these at any time by clearing site data for workshelve.com in your browser settings.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Vercel Inc. in the United States. To deliver pages and protect the service from abuse, Vercel's servers process standard request details such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. We do not use this information to identify you, and we do not combine it with anything else.
Content Loaded From Other Services
Some pages load files from the services below. When your browser fetches those files, the service receives your IP address and basic browser details, and handles them under its own privacy policy. None of them receive the files or text you use in the tools.

Pages also link to outside documentation and references. Following a link takes you to a site with its own privacy policy.
If You Email Us
If you contact us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply, keep it only as long as the conversation needs, and never add you to a mailing list or share it.
Children
The site collects no personal information from anyone using the tools, children included. If you believe a child has emailed us personal information, let us know and we will delete it.
Your Rights Under the Privacy Act 2020
You can ask to see any personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. In practice the only personal information we could hold is an email you have sent us. Write to TODO-contact@workshelve.com and we will respond within 20 working days, as the Act requires.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
Visitors Outside New Zealand
If privacy laws such as the EU or UK GDPR apply to you, you also have the right to ask us to delete your information, to restrict or object to how it is used, and to complain to your local data protection authority. The hosting described above relies on our legitimate interest in running a secure website. The local-storage preferences are strictly necessary to provide a setting you asked for, so they do not need a consent banner.
Vercel and Google are based in the United States, so request details they process may be handled there under their own safeguards.
Changes to This Policy
If the site starts handling personal information differently, for example by adding analytics, this page will be updated before the change goes live and the effective date at the top will change.
